HVAC Service Technician

Responsibilities
Install, service, and maintain heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial applications. Diagnose system issues, perform repairs, and complete system testing and startup. Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Communicate with customers to explain system issues and verify completed repairs. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation. Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Requirements
Two to five years of HVAC service experience. Strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing codes, industry standards, and system diagnostics. Working knowledge of math including basic algebra and geometry. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds regularly. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to customer locations.

Apprentice Plumbers, Pipefitters & Sheetmetal

Glassman Corporation provides hands on training in the layout and installation of plumbing and piping systems. Apprentices learn blueprint reading, installation, testing, inspection, repair, and maintenance of commercial plumbing and piping systems. Travel is required.

Apprentice Requirements
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Basic math skills. Strong communication skills, reliable transportation, and the ability to work well with others. Motivated to build a long term career in the trade.

Install and maintain plumbing, hydronic, medical gas, and process piping systems. Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure work meets contract requirements, codes, and industry standards. Work collaboratively while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

HVAC Service Technician

HVAC Service Technician Duties

  • Installation and maintenance of all sizes of heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial applications.
  • Repair and service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refilling non-toxic refrigerants for commercial and residential customers.
  • Testing, analyzing and start-up of systems
  • Determine causes of mechanical system operating errors and determine the solution.
  • Discuss heating and cooling system breakdowns with customer to isolate problems or to verify that repairs corrected the breakdowns.
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, such as safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate breakdowns.
  • Record and report time, materials, faults, deficiencies, or other unusual occurrences on work orders.
  • Install or repair self-contained ground source heat pumps to minimize carbon-based energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions.

HVAC Service Technician Requirements

  • Full understanding of Plumbing and Mechanical trade codes, formulas and industry standards
  • Two to five years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician.

Apprentice Plumbers & Pipefitters

The team at Glassman will teach you what you need to know to perform layout and installation of piping/plumbing systems. When you begin your apprenticeship, you will be taught to read blueprints and learn about installation, testing, repair, inspection and maintenance of a variety plumbing and piping systems.  Travel is required.
